LESSON TWO (2 hrs)
Ammunition Knowledge and Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting
Venue -Classroom
· Identify the Components of a Rifle Cartridge and their Function
· Identify Different Types of Rifle Ammunition and their Intended Use
· Explain and Demonstrate How to Ensure the Ammunition is Correct for the Rifle
· Identify and Define Three Major Cartridge Malfunctions and How to Respond Safely to Them
· Identify and Explain the Five Fundamentals of Shooting a Rifle
· Explain and Discuss NRA Marksman Qualification Program
LESSON THREE (2 hrs)
Firing the First Shots
Venue Classroom/ Range
· Demonstration of the Knowledge Skill and Attitude Necessary to Safely Assume the Benchrest Position with a Rifle
· Safely Shoot a Rifle Using the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting at a Target on a Range from the Benchrest Position
· Safely Zero a Rifle from the Benchrest Position
· Identify the Materials Needed to Clean a Rifle
· Clean Rifle Safely
LESSON FOUR (2 hrs)
Standing Shooting Positions
Venue- Classroom/Range
· Demonstration of the Knowledge Skill and Attitude Necessary to Safely Assume the Standing Position with a Rifle
· Safely Shoot a Rifle Using the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting at a Target on a Range from the Standing Position
LESSON FIVE (2 hrs)
Prone and Kneeling Rifle Shooting Position
Venue - Range
· Demonstration of the Knowledge Skill and Attitude Necessary to Safely Assume the Prone Position with a Rifle
· Safely Shoot a Rifle Using the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting at a Target on a Range from the Prone Position
· Demonstration of the Knowledge Skill and Attitude Necessary to Safely Assume the Kneeling Position with a Rifle
· Safely Shoot a Rifle Using the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting at a Target on a Range from the Kneeling Position
LESSON SIX (2 hrs)
Sitting Rifle Shooting Position and Review of Positions

· Demonstration of the Knowledge Skill and Attitude Necessary to Safely Assume the Sitting Position with a Rifle
· Safely Shoot a Rifle Using the Fundamentals of Rifle Shooting at a Target on a Range from the Sitting Position

· Explain Ways to Pursue Rifle-Shooting Activities after this Course
· Explain Criteria for Selecting a Rifle
